Our Story Begins
With over 15 years of experience as a local flooring salesman, founder Roderick G. Baker (Rod) opened Baker Flooring in 1970 to meet the growing needs of the Newfoundland market. Starting out with a focus on carpet, linoleum, and tile, the business quickly earned the trust of the community, serving early clients such as apartment buildings, schools, and churches across Newfoundland & Labrador.
Passing The Torch
Roderick Baker Jr. (Rick) became part of Baker Flooring in 1975 and helped strengthen the company’s reputation as one of the most dependable flooring providers in the province. Rick has now retired after decades of commitment to the business, leaving a lasting foundation built on trust, craftsmanship, and customer care.
Generational Knowledge
Today, the company is led by Andrew Baker, whose involvement began early, working after school and during the summer months to support day-to-day operations and learn the trade firsthand. Over time, he gained experience across all areas of the business, from jobsite coordination to hands-on flooring installation, developing a deep understanding of both the product and the process. Now as owner and operator, Andrew continues to build on the strong foundation established by his family. Under his leadership and the relationships that have been built, Baker Flooring remains one of the most trusted flooring providers in the province.
